
Below are a few quick answers to help you plan your stay.
From when can I book accomodations?
You can book now, but our accommodations are available from December 1st, 2025. If you would like to book an earlier period, just send us an email and we will most likely be able to support you. Send an email to anna@gaustabooking.com.
How do I book a cabin?
You can easily book through our booking page. Choose your dates, number of guests, and accommodation, fill in your details, and click Book.
Which weekdays are swopping days?
I differs. Som mountain homes have Saturday as swopping days, and som have Sundays.
Do I need to book an entire week?
Not always, but popular weeks like Christmas, New Year, Sports holidays and Easter are only available as full weeks. The other weeks you normally choose which day to arrive and depart. Som houses have certain days as check in days and check out days. You will notice all this when you search on specific dates.
When is my booking confirmed?
Once you’ve paid (or paid a deposit for early bookings) within three days, you’ll receive a confirmation email with all the details. This email serves as your official booking confirmation. Before that, you’ll receive a reservation notice.
What payment methods do you accept?
You can pay to our Norwegian bank account in Tinn Sparebank, Rjukan, Norway, or by Vipps. Instructions on how to pay with Vipps can be found att vipps.se.
Can I cancel or change my booking?
Yes, you can cancel according to our cancellation policy. Cancellations must be made in writing by email to post@gaustabooking.com.
What’s included in the rental?
Electricity, water, hot water, a fully equipped kitchen, and a comfortable stay — including bed linen, towels, and firewood. If you need anything extra during your stay, just let us know!
Is there wifi?
Yes, all accommodations have wifi. See each information in each cabin for details.
Easter? Who can I book the Easter holiday?
It will depend from year to year. This year Saturday or Sunday is the swopping day depending on which mountain home you are booking. Both the week before and after the Easter weekend are considered peak season, therefore only full weeks can be reserved.
Is cleaning included?
Final cleaning is always included – relax and focus on getting home safely.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are welcome in some cabins. Please check the cabin description before booking.
What about smoking inside and wild parties?
No smoking inside and no wild parties! Thank you.
Is there a grill or fire pit?
Yes, most accommodations have a grill or access to one nearby. Firewood is available for purchase in the area.
When can I check in and out?
Check-in from 16:00, check-out by 11:00.
Where and how do I get the key?
You’ll receive instructions by email or SMS after the final invoice has been paid, but before arrival. We use code locks or key boxes.
How do I get to the cabins?
The cabins are located in Hovdestaul. See the area descriptions for more details. A clear route description will be sent along with your key information.
What can I do in the area?
Rjukan, Gausta, and Telemark offer amazing nature experiences – skiing at Gausta Ski & Resort, hiking, fishing, and more. Explore Rjukan’s rich history at museums, visit Hardangervidda or the Rjukanfossen waterfall. Check our website links and articles for more inspiration.
